The advantages of solar power generation are that solar energy resources are inexhaustible, there are zero emissions, and the method is suitable for all scales. Solar inverters are power electronic devices that connect solar photovoltaic panels and power grids. They first convert AC power into DC power to achieve the maximum power tracking control function of solar energy, and then convert DC power into AC power. Solar energy is virtually unlimited and available in most places. It is the most environmentally friendly energy source. A standard PV power conversion system has a first-stage DC-DC converter, either isolated or non-isolated, and a second-stage DC-AC inverter for AC output. To meet safety requirements in the United States, isolation is often required between the PV cells and the AC output. In Europe and Japan, many inverters are designed with non-isolated topologies, which save weight, increase efficiency, and reduce costs, but they also require a ground return path to protect the circuit from accidental electric shock. For commercial and industrial applications, typical three-phase power is 10 to 100 kW, which can be served by APS SiC diode and MOSFET solutions.
